Alt+129 doesn't work for me. Cutting and pasting, however, does. Übermensch. Über. The last time I saw Über used was in RP when they were talking about a style of posting where the character is all-powerful, hence an Übermensch, or Übernickle, in his case. LIke Donut, I love the way that English picks up words and incorporates them into the language. But, not umlauts, tildes, accent grave or breve.

Alt + 129 should work.. anyone care the post the whole ascii table? I know, it's pretty complex one, lot to do with hex & decimals.
Almost every country has an unique keyboard model. When I was at my girlfriends in Germany, I had serious troubles typing quickly with theirs because the letters are placed logically for germans, z+ü... maybe packing your own keyboard along when you leave abroad becomes a necessity.. Alt+ 132 = ä Alt+ 148 = ö We have ä and ö in our keyboards, but not umlauts. [ 05-29-2003, 10:13 AM: Message edited by: NiceWorg ]

Hello Ramon! I'm not über qualified to use the word über in my text as I don't have the umlaut on my keyboard nor does the alt+129 thing work for me, but hey, I'm a good cut and paster...in fact I'm the über-cutandpaster of the überUniverse! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Ahem...we will now return you to your regularly scheduled über interesting chat about the word über. [ 05-29-2003, 10:16 AM: Message edited by: Cloudbringer ]

We are English - prepare to be assimilated. Resistance is futile! Hmmm .... I wonder what an übermuchkin would be? Does that put a new twist to Kennedy's goof? "Ick bin ein überberliner!" [ 05-29-2003, 10:35 AM: Message edited by: Night Stalker ]

I have one answer:
STARCRAFT Battle.net is by far the most used gaming network of all those outthere, and it also is a gaming network that is international. The use of the word uber originated from German players who played as the Zurg. "Spawn more Uberlords" of course the term uberlord sounded awesome to some Americans and they began to adapt uber on to anything fun, somehow in recent years the fads been spoken on everyone's tounge, that, in a combination with the whole "Uberman" thing from SNL has caused a huge attraction to the word, even in a huge Japanese film, the End of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the giant form of Rei is refered to as "Uber Rei" in some of the artists' notes. And more recently, Ikea's commercials have taken a use of American's knowledge or rather dis-knowledge of the use of the double dotted dialogue, in their advertisments as themselves being "Unböring". There've been many sources where the word OVER was used in a german term to refer to things and American's have loved adapting it as their own special word, so when we create an Item in NWN that does 2d6 Sonic Damage and Vampiric Regeneration + 20 and we call it an "Uber-Axe" we do it out of fun, not a disrespect to the german language, American's have been making up their own spellings and meannigs of words since the days of the native American's majority not to mention Immigration. Just look at how we spell Aluminum while england goes so far as to call it Aluminium, and a billion and a trillion don't mean the same thing between the two countries either! So in conclusion, Uber has become an Amerianized word: Uber (ooh-burr) - Adj. Meaning: Better than super but not quite hella- Usually placed before word without spacing. Example uses: UberSteve, UberBall, UberCatmandu...
