Judging from the minimum stats:

Pentium II 300 MHz or AMD K6-2 350 MHz
TNT2 or Voodoo 3 class video card
64 MB of RAM
An internet or LAN connection

I would think (based on my gaming experience), for the game to run above 60 fps at high settings will require:

1 GHz
Geforce2 (NOT MX)/Radeon2
256 MB RAM
LAN connections (This is a definite unless you are playing multiplayer at ungodly hours like 5 am in the morning).

What are you people's opinion on this?

Should I change my name to Hydra? Do I need underwear with extra room in the front? (or maybe the back for those of you who think I'm full of shnitzel)

I'd tend to think that if the game really comes out in the next month or two it'll require in the vicinity of 800mhz and a GF2 class video card to do it justice... hopefully they can take advantage of the hotter systems out there too. My 1700 box madonions at better than twice the 1200 and games that use the power really do look incredible(Alice, Giants, MS Flight Sim 2002, Motocross Madness 2 are some that I've run at 1280x1024 with FSAA... amazing quality).

I'm REALLY looking forward to this game, and have been since I saw the first screenshots and read about their multiplayer plans. I just hope it lives up to the buzz.

Where in the hell do you find the room for a home network like that? You must have a big basement and no other hobbies! I'm assuming you have a broad band web connection? A T1 line or better?

At home in NY I'm relegated to the Basement by order of her Imperial Majesty "The WIFE" .

I dragged my family out here to Southern California for the year and at my apartment in Irvine I have a bedroom dedicated to the 4 boxes I brought with me (although there's also a guest bed in there that friends have used occasionally). So it was a prerequisite when hunting for a place that it had at least 3 bedrooms. I'll have to post a pic sometime. It's not as bad as it would seem... the two servers share a single flat screen monitor, keyboard and mouse (via a switch) and all four cases are under desks.

I have Cox digital cable out here, and Roadrunner Cable Internet back at the house in NY (my sister is living there watching our two cats and THREE BILLION fish)

Roadrunner is BY FAR the faster of the two... 2x by the seat of the pants meter.

Since that post I've upgraded too, the 1700xp is now a Liquid Cooled overclocked 1700+, still have to finish tuning but I'm expecting madonions in the 10k vicinity. Addictive stinkin habit.

As for other hobbies, well I've got WAY too many for my own good. I've got a Model Railroad that takes what space isn't taken by computers in my basement, and a Moderately modified 96 Z28 that an absolute money sink (but runs 11's). Of course both those hobbies are brought together by the computer... the Model Railroad has a Command Control system with PC interface (controllable completely from a PC). I have programming tools for the car that let me massage every parameter in the PCM... as well as displaying realtime engine performance data (via my trusty laptop).

Ok, I cant hang with the big boys out there, but maybe you guys can help me with your online multiplayer exp.

800mgz athlon
512 mb ram
16MB Nividia TNT2 graphics
56k dial up

Im confident the game will run pretty well at home, but I was planning on Neverwinter being my first foray into online gaming. Is this going to cut it? I dont suppose Id have any hope of putting up my own campaign world for a small number of players with this, would I? Dont laugh....Im serious....really....stop laughing...

What about a Voodoo 2 There's no way I'm going to get a new graphics card! Too expensive!

you could get a second Voodoo2 card... with two you're almost as fast as a Gf2 I've heard. It might be a nice cheap alternative to upgrade... you should be able to find a servicable used V2 card for 20 bucks.

Scratch that... did a bit of digging and even a dual setup is pretty slow... you'd be better off buying a Geforce2 mx400... a number of those cards are under 40 bucks these days.

Why does it even require a Voodoo 3?! I mean the graphics are very good but I have some games which use more 3D effects than NWN and it runs fine. I think I'm eventually going to buy a burner or a new graphic card..hopefully before the release of NWN .

Like most of the new 3d games coming out... it'll probably run on a V2 or V3 box... but you'll be shutting off some of the effects and running at low res.

Take a game like Alice for instance... when I was running it on my V3 I had to turn down all the textures and run at 640x480. Upgrade to GF2 and you can turn on all the textures (makes a HUGGGGEEE differnce in visual appeal) and go to a GF3 and run at 1280x1024 with every graphics option maxed out. I think you'll find the 40 beans for a gf2 well worth it.

Is it worth then getting a 64mb graphic card or a 32mb one? I think the cheapest 32mb graphic card here is $300 and 64mb $500 (australian). Or should I just get a burner..what's better in the long run
