It was evening where I live (GMT+8, about 12 or 13 hrs ahead of NYC). I was answering emails when a friend of ours who moved to the US and was staying in (IIRC) Philadelphia sent an email about a plane crashing into WTC. I thought it was an accident involving a light plane. It was only when I tuned into the news when the enormity of the incident sunk in.
I too stayed up into the early hours of the morning following the story.

I was on Ironworks.

At 1.59 pm just 13 minutes after the first plane crashed skywalker posted

"An airplane crashed into the World Trade Center in New York today. Unbelievable"

I was on my way to work, with my brother in law. We too thought some dumbass had flown a light plane into the tower. We installed steal/vinyl siding, and when we got to the house, the lady of the house had us come in to see what had happened. I was shocked into disbelief.

Just came home from work, and was gonna grab a beer with my brother, spend the rest of the day in front of the tv in total disbelief.
