They are either that or 95% useless.
They cast level 3 spells I mean I could do better in BG1 solo! Surely at a level 7 spell, Project Image is more powerful? Has anyone actually won a battle thanks to a Djinni? Sure they have good attacks but that's what elementals are for. |

Djiins are useful against dragons and other critters for two reasons
1] fire or cold spell that reflects damage back. (Useless against draqgons of course, as damage is magical) 2] Gaseous form they take on makes them immune to physical attacks. Dragons get hung up trying to hit djiin while you cheerfully pepper them with your nasty spells (insect plague etc. and missiles eg. heartseeker set to +7. I always like to summon a djiin before fighting a bad baddy, 'due to their longetivity. |

I think they are quite good in the respect that nishruus tend to go for them in preference to you!
Also, I think there is an item somewhere that lets you cast a djinni instantly and it doesn't have to be a magic-user doing it (I think I had yoshino summoning djinnis for me. |

I agree. Djinnis are that good. Every one I ever cast died in 3 seconds.

Yeah, I don't like Djinnis either. I think that Efreeti's are a bit more powerful; but for a level seven summoning spell, you can't beat Mordenkainen's Sword.

My Effeetis attack me for some reason. I hate that - I don't mind summoning them, but they turn on me if they die for some reason.

If you can buff up your Genies with some good spells they could probably be a little more effective - I've found Genies and Efreets to be effective if you use them properly.

How do they work I mean the gaseous phase?
They seem to respawn every now and again and can't be killed? |
