OK, I'm renowned for my nosiness, I've been wanting to ask this one here for ages, curiosity finally got the better of me.

Doesn't matter if you've been married 30 years or dating for a week, where and how did you meet your current love interest? Was it instant fireworks, or a slow stoking of the flames?

Tell Auntie Epona all about it, leave out no juicy bits....

In a pub, where else?

Actually I was doing a part time job as a barmaid, you know the sort of stuff, separated from hubby for 6 months, doing graphic design from 9-5.30, straight to the pub round the corner from my house, to do a 7-11.30 stint behind the bar most nights to make ends meet. (Not much of a difference between jobs eh?)

It took him a while to pluck up courage to ask me out and as far as I was concerned after my hubby men didn't exist. But he was very persistant, and I wasn't very responsive but I came around in the end and we have been together for over 8 years now - aaaaahhhh.

My daughter who is 18 likes him though and that really matters. His son and I get on really well too. One big happy family.

It was at a party. I was on the staff of a big Dallas hospital, then, and the medical staff threw a party for the new house staff (interns and residents). Suddenly this gorgeous blonde comes up to me and says, "Hi, Dad." I nearly dropped my drink, but she laughed and explained that she was one of the medical students rotating through the hospital. Our last names are similar, and people kept asking her if she was my daughter, and she decided to get a little of her own back by shocking me. It was a while before I asked her out (we were both newly divorced) but I finally did, and it was like meeting my best friend. That was ten years agoand we've been married for eight.

What a lovely idea, Laura!

I met mine online at another (now defunct) msg board where I was a moderator. The day (or late that night anyway!) he joined the board I was updating my icq and msn and he had an icq address listed in his profile. I normally didn't add people without asking but just on the spur of the moment I added his number. Apparently it checked with him for approval and he was online, though invisible. Within minutes he was asking who I was as I was using the Cloudy nick in ICQ but he knew me as IceAngel on the board.

We chatted for 8 hrs in icq that night and then every night (except two I was away) for the rest of my two week vacation we either icq'd or voice chatted. It was amazing how much we talked back then! After I went back to work our shedules were much harder to integrate and of course after the initial high, we wondered if we were being rational and all! LOL But after 4 months I went out to see him for almost two weeks and after I got back we talked more often and came to the conclusion we had to be together. About a month ago, he proposed. In two weeks he'll have moved here to live and go to college. I'm pretty darned excited. A few weeks after he gets here will be our one year anniversary of knowing each other.

OK, well I suppose I should post my story too then

I was at a conference, and on the first night went to a party which was just for people from my department. As soon as I walked in the room, I saw this guy who was laughing and telling a funny story (I like a sense of humour). He looked over and saw me, it was pretty electric. Although I'd not met him before, he was with a group of people I did know, so I went over to join in. We flirted outrageously with each other, I mean really outrageously, it was quite corny in a way, he took his earring out to show someone and couldn't get it back in so I had to do it for him that sort of thing.

Late on in the evening I told my mate who was the only one left hanging around to take a hike (she did, bless her!) turned round to him and asked him when he was gonna kiss me - and he did! That was that. The rest of the detail I will keep to myself, but lets just say we didn't get any sleep

I can honestly say I was only looking for a bit of fun, but when I got home he e-mailed asking if he could see me again, and it didn't take too long for it to become more than just a bit of fun

I was looking for a picture of Rowan Atkinson for a friend's website, when I came across this marvelous website full of various British comedy stuff, especially Monty Python. The "about me" page was hilarious as well, and mentioned little tidbits about an area in England where I used to live. I signed the guestbook per this page's urging, and told the owner "don't you dare write me back". So, of course he did. We started emailing each other every day, then also added two to four hour phone calls (I was in NYC, he was in Memphis). Before we met "in the flesh" six months later, we'd decided to get married, providing that everything went okay when we met each other physically. We flew to see each other about every six weeks (thank heavens for e-tickets) and married in March of 1997, about a year after we first emailed each other. He's my soulmate and best friend, and we still find it agonizing to be apart (on the rare times that ever happens).

Kind of humorous actually,

I met my wife (God rest her soul) in university, but at that point we were just friends. After that, I went off to join the police force and get sent off to the training academy for six months. I was reposted in a different city than I went to university and started in traffic. I was doing highway patrol one day, sitting back off the road with my radar out, when this car blew past doing twice the posted speed limit, so I tore off after it. Low and behold when I got to the window of the car, it was Gail. I didn't know at first, because it was her friends car so when I ran the plate I had no idea who it was.
She was a little upset at first about the $125 speeding ticket, but we went for coffee about a week later and got married 3 months after that on valentines day.

I met my wife when I was in year 9 (or 3rd form) in high school - she had just started year seven. Twice between then and leaving school I went out with one of her best friends - not too serious.
Got to know her as a good friend over 4 years before asking her out. We were at a Christmas party for a group of friends and she gave out handmade cards with a drawing on the front to everyone. Mine was the only one she coloured in...
With a big push from my bro I asked her, and we went out for 4 years before getting married. 6 1/2 years later, it is the best!
Sometimes I still can't believe we've been together for a decade, and known each other for almost 1 1/2! (I'm only 27!)
