You should check out Madonion.com for their benchmarks.

GF2 class cards should be well under a hundred bucks and benchmark in the 2000-3000 range(my system, you's will be a bit slower)

GF3 class cards should be around $200 and benchmark in the 7000-8000 range (on my system)

GF4 class cards will benchmark around 10000 (not sure what they cost)

I myself have never seen a GF2 class card that benched at better than half the speed of a GF3 (much less a Ti500)... but if you're not playing FPS style games you'll most likely be very happy with the affordable GF2 based cards available.

I've got (and have had for a while now) a GeForce 2 Pro in my 1.4Ghz Athlon, and I've yet to find anything that causes it problems (and I play a fair few 1st person shooters at stupid resolutions) - so I'd heartily recommend one.

Until I bought it, I was still using a good old Riva TNT and that was still suprisingly capable given how old the things are! That card should win some kind of lifetime achievement award - amazing little thing and no doubt..

Actually it isn't. The X-Box uses a variation of the NV17 GPU which is similar to the chip being used on the MX class video cards. It is like a geforce 2 and a half. It is certainly nowhere near as powerful as your geforce 3 Ti series, and not even comperable to the Geforce 4 Ti series.
