Well, here I am, Saturday night and still no BGII. Moiranie and merc and others....you wonderful people seem to be my best last hope before I come completely unglued. I deleted all of what I thought would be the "pertinent" registry items I could find and actually got Disk 1 to show the Install first screen!!! I got excited but it was shortlived as the next small window informed me that "Access to Files was denied."

This may be a stupid question but ... did you reboot between purging the registry and trying to re-install BG II ?
Also, you may try to install the RegClean utility at http://www.createwindow.com/wininfo/regclean.htm It purges the registry of unused / error entries. Try it, then reboot, then post to tell if it has helped at all. (I am not sure if a reboot is necessary, but it cannot hurt ...) Also : Run ScanDisk to check your hard disk(s) and files, and repair them if needed. And reboot. ------------------ The world is my oyster ! I hope you did not mean that this forum is your last hope, like you mentioned. There are people who get paid money to get your game working correctly. Call the techs at Interplay before you commit suicide. (If you have called, and they did not help, then call again, and tell the next guy how angry you are at the first...that usually sparks them into realizing that you are priority.
In the end...the only thing that anyone here or there can do is guess at your problem until someone gets lucky. Bare in patience, friend... ------------------ Larry, Sell-Sword to the OHF |
