Discs Of Porn Found In Trash Leads To Arrest
Police: Passer-By Finds Photos Of Young Girls In Garbage

LARGO, Fla. -- A man was arrested on a child pornography charge after a passer-by found computer discs in his trash that held about 75 sexual photographs of young girls, police said.
The woman took the discs home, put them into her computer and found the images, authorities said. She reported her discovery to police.

Edward J. Mitskevich, 59, was arrested Monday on a felony charge of child pornography possession. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail, then posted $5,000 bond and was released the same day, a jail official said Wednesday. Directory assistance did not list a phone number for Mitskevich and jail officials said records did not show any attorney listed for him.

Largo police Detective Joe Coyle said Mitskevich admitted to downloading the pornographic photos from the Internet about five years ago, then saving them on the discs.

Mitskevich threw away the discs, along with an old fax machine, which he placed in a garbage container in his driveway, Coyle said.

The passer-by retrieved the machine and the discs from the trash.

Though the woman didn't know Mitskevich, his name was on a container that held the discs. There also were personal photographs of Mitskevich on the discs.

The child pornography photos show girls under the age of 10 involved in various sexual activities, according to the arrest report.

Coyle said Mitskevich told police he ran a magnet over the discs in an attempt to erase them before throwing them away.
This article make me irritated and sad at the same time. Why would someone have things like that on floppys and why would someone who can afford a computer be digging through someone elses trash? I wonder why the "passer by" wasnt charged with theft for takeing the fax machine and the disks?? Do you lose the right to your property once you put it out in the trash?? Sure you are throwing it away , but it is still YOUR trash!! If you lose the right to it, then I guess stealing trash cans is ok , since they are at curbside with the rest of the trash.Busy bodies who have to get people in trouble piss me off.

Well, I can't vouch for most other places, but my own city has ordinances against 'trash picking'. But even so, we have a person who comes by looking for things to repair or cannibalize for repairing other things. He never makes a mess and always putd the cans back so I don't make a fuss. I figure I was tossing the stuff so it's trash to me. If he wants it, fine.

As for the guy above, well, he tossed it, so if someone finds it, he's out of luck. And frankly, I'm glad they DID find it.

Didn't Nixon lose a court case to keep his trash private? I can't remember it specifically, but it seems he did.

Trespassing is another story.

Any crime short of murder or rape that gets a child pervert arrested should be forgiven, IMHO. Something similar happened here (England) a few weeks ago. A tramp was going through a bin and found dismembered body parts of two women in plastic bags. This led to the arrest of a man believed to have murdered them, as well as another woman.
(FYI, the bin in which the body parts were found was used by a whole block of flats, in case you thought the guy was a total idiot )

*tisk tisk tisk* some people just shouldnt get invoulved in things like that if they KNOW it will get them in trouble! puttint it on disks! yeesh! I made a mistake similar to that after drawing a raunchy manga and saving it to a CD which was found by my own mother 9_9 I don't have to tell you about the lecture that one bought me... It wasnt even half-soft-core but I "implied" some certain aspects that got an 18+ mark on it *rubs head* ack just thinking about it is bringing back the pain of rolling pins bopping me over the head in my sleep... The plastic kind of course

My concern is not only why this individual had these pictures on floppies. I am concerned that he had them at all. The fact that he had them makes him a loathsome individual. Along the same line however; someone took those pictures, someone put those pictures on their computer, someone put those pictures on the Internet, and someone allowed them to do it. So while you wonder why the ‘passer by’ was not charged, I also wonder why the other serious offenders are not prosecuted.

To comment about “do you loose your property when you throw it away”, those pictures, if you can consider them property, belong to that little girl and no on else.

I am sorry that you feel that this woman was a “busy body”. I can tell you that if it was my daughter in those photos and the woman did nothing about it, I would hold her as responsible as everyone else.

THe point of all this wasnt to debate if what was on the disks was wrong. The point was to maybe illustrate how the 5th amendment is being abused here. Lets say someone tossed 2 pounds of marrijuana out in the trash by accident and some wandering trash picker is digging through your stuff and spots it and turns you in. Do you lose the right to your personal property once it is at curbside or since it was bagged up and in a bin , NOT in plain sight is it an unlawfull search? Can any one , the police included scoop up a bag of your trash and search it for clues to use against you?? It might make you think twice before you put things out in the rubbish heap.

Question Mark

if you go to your city hall and check the laws here in the U.S. In most states and cities trash placed on the curb or on the street become public domain, do to the fact that it is set out and discarded on public property to be picked up. It is then free pickings to anybody that wants it. Now you can't wander up to anybodys trash can setting up by their house, this trash is still on private property and still is the property of the home owner and taking this trash is considered stealing, but once the home owner sets it to the street the trash is up for grabs! Have you not heard that ones mans trash is another mans treasure. now some cities have made this act of trash picking against the law because, sloppy trash pickers leaving up turned cans of trash on the street to blow where it may in the wind.
As far as the kiddie Porn, I think the S.O.B. should be casterated but thats just my feelings. Kiddie porn is due to sick minds and endangers childern. I think the people that produce it should be Hung by the neck intill Dead. as for the people that buy it or down load it I think they are dangerous and should be watched and/or just casterated. but if it happens a second time then Hang them too!

New member of the justice league, "Trash digging hobo".

I'm glad the perv got caught by the trash digger.

Anyway, the sick man with the photos got what was coming to him IMO, and I happen to agree with Crimsonblade's opinion:
