I have IWD/HoW/ToLM. When creating my party, does alignment matter? Like, say in BG/BG2 where there can be... tensions between party NPCs of opposing alignments.
I also noticed in the HoW manual's description of some spells where some can only be cast by thos of a particular alignment, or affects thos of a particular alignment. Do the effects include party members? For example, Holy Smite is supposed to affect evil characters. Does this include party members? |

unfortunately, yes. Holy Smite will hurt evil members of the party just like unholy blight will hurt good characters. Be careful when using spells like this. But other than spells, the alignment really doesn't affect anything else. i haven;t found anyone who cares what alignment you are (is there ANYONE in the game who cares?) There are a few items in the game that are alignment specific and of course, you need to be carefull of the alignment of any human who plans to dual class.

I found that IWD was not really alignment-specific in any way. There are various differences between classes and races though - in some areas for example, a Paladin will get a different set of dialogue responses than a fighter, or a dwarf will get options that a human doesn't get - nothing major though.
The main things about alignment are - some cleric spells are alignment specific - some weapons can only be used by certain alignments ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Definitely alter your party as to alignment, as some of the best items in the game can't be used by "good" members. I was glad I brought a couple of "Neutrals" along for that! Also, there are items that can't be used by Chaotics, or Lawfuls as well. The only type of alignment I don't use is "evil" (Good/Neutral here), but the rest of my characters run the gamut from my Lawful Good Paladin to my Chaotic Neutral Thief (I can just imagine the banter between THOSE two!)
Cheers, ------------------ I know who you are...I saw what you did! |
