Heh, well you get use to it. I live by a 600 acre feild, usally full of cows, although now its empty, thank God. If you want something really bad, try sleeping by a bunch of calfs who have just been taken away from their mothers, yikes. Dogs barking at them dont help either.

OK, you want to talk about weird noises at night? While I was living out of town, someone was raising peacocks. Have you ever heard what those things sound like from a distance? Whenever I played the sound from Encarta, it freaked out my cats more than the sound of a wolf.
As for the cows, only thing I can think of until the farmer gets rid of them, if maybe one of those "white sound" thingys. Or some nature sounds CD.

COWS ARE THE BIZ!!!! LEAVE COWS ALONE!!!!!

For 'twas a cow (the legendary Professor Moo)which taught me to MOO !!!!!!!!
(is that enough exclamation marks to be deranged )

tehre is even a book calleed "Moo" by Janet Smiley (think that was the name)

There was also the God Moomoo who travellers would sacrifice a virgine egg to for good weather
