I am a little way into Assention Peak right now.My motto has been *No deaths acceptable* so far I have been able to reach this far without any registered deaths. i.e. If I get a Death I reload and go back into the fight until I can kill all without a death in the family. BRIAN

I may accept a death but normally I reload. There is something foolishly satisfying about knowing there were no deaths and the party is "clean". This is part of the suspension of reality that games make you do, I know, since it really doesn't matter. In Wiz 7 though, if you died you had a probability of losing stats (always losing at least one stamina point if I remember correctly),

I always do as well unless it's one of my recruitments, don't care about them dying

I care about people dying in the beginning, but after my priest or bishop gets the resurrection spell I'll just resurrect anyone who dies.

I definitely retain a stigma from older Wizardries about dying, since you lost a point (sometime more?) of Vitality. I do have parties where I reload if I think the death was "stupid," which is pretty hard to define but usually means I was stupid or lazy. If it was a really difficult fight, then one or maybe 2 deaths is acceptable--as long as I resurrect them before the battle's end, so they still get a share of xp.

In IronMan, you have to get used to a few deaths, even if they are stupid. I'm pretty proud of my LoTR party--there have been only about 4-5 deaths including RPCs. My Ultima Companions party, on the other hand--I oughta go back and look, but the death count is quite high. Oh well, those guys were always getting killed and resurrected anyway.

I tend to play favorites a little bit - if a bard, fighter or thief dies I won't reload, but for hybrids and bishops, I generally will.

I'd rather have a few characters die than redo an entire battle. If I think I'm going to win, even though half my party is dead, I'll go ahead and finish the battle. The battles that end up killing a few of my characters are always very long, and life is too short to do them over and over again. Once I've regained the upper hand I just resurrect the characters I want in on the experience points (Bishops, Ninjas and Hybrids usually).

Whenever I die in real life, however, I always reload.

I'm definitely in your camp - for me it's not worth the time to reload (unless I have no resurrection powder and am far from a source of it). I used to care more about limiting deaths, but really, since having a samurai in the party on expert mode I find you have to accept a few deaths, even making a great effort to keep her alive.
