what you should do, is pick what you want, except for the int/wis/con/str skill stats. i think for sorceress (wizard, right?) you need wisdom. it says if you click on the skill name. One of the problems i encountered was that with my spellcasters, when i first played, i didnt allocate enough points to int for my cleric, so i could not use higher level spells when i got to that level.
I think to use a spell, you need the number of the level + 10 of int for clerics, wis for wizards. I dont get too obsessed with race/affiliation, so i might not be the best person to answer you on this.

Clerics, Druids, Paladins, Rangers - Wisdom.
Sorcerers, Bards - Charisma.
Wizards, Specialist Wizards - Intelligence.
People like Aasimar make great sorcerers because of the Charisma bonus. High main casting skills gives extra spells and makes it less possible for enemies to resist the spells. As for skills, take Concentraion and Spellcraft. Assign others as you want. Extra Intelligence adds more skill points. Next, out of feats, Subvocal Casting is the first must, then read up on them and choose what you will. As for alignment, take whatever.

EDIT: BoB beat me to the punch

Er, other way around. WIS is for clerics, INT is for wizards, and sorcerers (actual sorcerers, not just another name for wizards) rely on CHA. As said above, you will need 10+ spell level in your casting stat to cast that spell level. Get average strength, max DEX, 16 CON, drop INT and WIS (though WIS should drop no lower than 8), and maxed CHA.

Good sorcerer classes are the ones that give you +2 CHA. Go with an aasimir if you want faster leveling, or a drow if you want more power.

For feats, give your sorcerer spell penetration and spell focus: evocation, along with dodge and weapon proficiency.

For skills, get your spellcraft to 10-INT modifier. If your INT is 6, for example, you need 12 spellcraft. This lets you take the higher level mage feats.

Alignment has no effect on a sorcerer, but if you want to make a multiclass then you could have a lawful good paladin2/sorcerer

Good luck, and feel free to ask questions on anything I didn't cover!

Ah, you mean spells. Well, Burning Hands will save your skin when you're engaged in melee, Minor Mirror Image is not worth taking, Magic Missile is a must have for any arcane spellcaster and Cghromatic Orb is the best spell in mid game. There are more levels of spells, with even more spells. Some are great everywhere, some are useless in all but some situations, where they rule. Seeing it as it's your first go through the game, I'd take both a sorcerer and a wizard, since sorcerers don't get to change their spells once they learn them, and they have the same spells as Wizards. That way you can see what spells are good with your wizard before taking them with sorcerer. An Aasimar sorcerer and a Tiefling Wizard work best.

Such low intelligence means you'll only get 1 skill point/level.

I would get int up to 10 at least and reduce CON (hitpoints arent really a must for sorceress)

er... youre not soloing, are you? Who are the other party members...

one more thing, as for feats, I really didnt find subvocal casting all that useful. Too many vocalize potions...

What a perfect party must have:
Spell bombarder
Diplomat
Tank
Healer
And that's it. A party full of clerics and druids might also be fun because some clerics are kinda good bombard units, but not great, they can heal and talk moderately well, and druids make sort of good tanks, with more damage and less healing ability. A perfect party is one that covers all aspects of potential problems that might come along the way.
