4 Oscars is incredible for a movie in the fantasy genre...I don't think any other fantasy movie has come close, unless it was E.T. (and I forget if it one any, or how many). The Oscars are notoriously conservative on movies, tending to give support to movies about intense social or political issues rather than by popularity. That's also why I consider the "Golden Globe" awards to be a little more telling of what the people think is important.

My only problem is, if "A Beautiful Mind" was the best movie, why wasn't Russell Crowe the Best Actor? Typical Hollywood pandering.

Lord of The Rings should have been the Best Picture. A Beautiful Mind is boring. Lord of The Rings was action packed and full of humor! but 4 Oscars is still pretty good!

LORT should have gotten the one for best director as well, if you ask me.

BTW, isn't Shrek the first animated film ever to recieve an oscar?

Oscars aren't about whats criticaly best its about what hollywood likes. Its the industry politics, and I say Industry in that big buisness off the production line sense.

Heavens, no. Pinocchio won the Best Original Song Oscar for "When You Wish Upon a Star" back in 1940. As a matter of fact, Disney has a string of Best Original Song Oscars for a handful of films: Pocahontas, The Lion King, Tarzan, etc. Not to say that I like Disney, mind you, but facts are facts.

Animated Feature Film is a new category; it has no history yet.
