Hey guys. A friend and I are planning on playing Baldurs Gate I over a LAN in the near future, and I was looking for some advice/warnings. I never played anything over a LAN, so I was wondering if I could expect any form of trouble. Also, would it be advicable to use one of those Mods that integrates BGI into BGII? Or are they still packed with bugs? A more game related question: since my mate has never played BGI before, he can play the protonagist. I'll play support (Ranger/Cleric). I never took on BGI with a multiclassed character.. will difficult will it be? On another note, we'll be trying to make this an excellent roleplaying experience. So I was wondering on what kind of party to take? Since we will going through both BGI and II, I was thinking on taking on the NPC's you start with there (at least for a while, anyway). So our party would probably look like this:

PC
PC
Imoen
Khalid
Jaheira
And maybe for a while, Minsc, Dynahair, Edwin or Viconia.

Or perhaps we shouldn't take any kind of party at all..
Suggestions?

I have never played on LAN either, although I have had on the "to-do" list for a long time, so I will just give you some minor advice.
1) I suggest you play BG1 "pure". A lot of the challenges in BG1 is designed for the equipment and possibilities you have there.
2) I am playing a multiclass ATM and have played it before. It's not as bad as you'd think. Since the xp progression is non-linear you "only" have to cope with being one level lower.
3) If you play a C/R and your mate a mage you don't need a 6 people party and since it is a roleplaying experience I don't see Edwin or Viccy tagging along with a ranger. I suggest you cope with only Imoen until you can pick up Coran. Then you dual Imoen to mage and let Coran and her compensate eachothers thief skills. That will leave you with two mages, two fighters, two thieves and the allround healer with only four people to confuse you and put demands on the equipment pool.
If your mate isn't playing a mage I say go for Minsc/Dynaheir instead of Khalid/Jaheira.

The BG1->BG2 mods are still not perfected. If you know the game and have the buglist to hand, you can work around any bug, but MP will complicate matters. It's possible, But I'd suggest you avoid it if possible. If you must, BGtutu is reportedly more stable than BGT, although I have no direct experience of it yet.

well I could give you a report on bgt MP, but you'l have to wait about a week.

I think bgt would be a great way to do it, and there arent really many bugs left, Im sure it should be stable with mp since there is no reason why it shouldn't, but that is just speculation. Why not give it a try?
