Hi Everyone:
Well, I reached Malavon's temple but each time I try and fight the iron golems and the hulks, I get destroyed!! I tried shooting Malavon, but he is too strong. I am level 12 and above. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Edoe, as you've found out, this can be quite a difficult fight.

Keep in mind, however, that you decide on what terms it takes place. I have had good results using invisibilty to scout the area and potions of clarity and the cleric spell chaotic commands to protect my characters from the umber hulks' gaze attack. There is no need to approach Malavon and his guardians with your whole party -- send in one character who can move quickly to get out of the way of his spell attacks and make the golems, etc. find you. You know your party -- play to your stengths here and make the enemy find you. There are a couple narrow spaces where area effect spells, for example, can be really effective against the umber hulks as they bunch up to move through them.

The Iron Golems can be hurt by arrows of piercing - can be 'acquired' in the watch-tower

I fought this battle just last night. Yes, it's tough, but not too tough.

First of all, completely buff up your party prior to entering Malavon's place. Be certain to cast Chaotic Commands or Potion of Clarity on as many of your party as possible.

When you enter Malavon's place, nuke the 2 UH's in the foyer as fast as possible. Should be easy to do.

Next, Summon some tough monsters. Go right into the next room with the summoned monsters leading the way. They're gonna be your cannon fodder, meatwall.

Send in your toughest character to get Malavon's attention and start the battle. After the end of the conversation, run back to the rest of your party and ignore Malavon. The Iron Golems and more UH's will charge your party.

Have your fighters engage the golems. Have your spell casters start firing off area effect spells to take out the umber hulks. All in all, this isn't really that tough. Just intense.

After cleaning out the IG's and UH's, keep your party in this same room. Send in your toughest fighter charging into the next room after Malavon. Yes, you'll take some damage from his cloud attacks that are still lingering, but this "Malavon" dies rather easy. After killing him, charge back to the rest of your party and wait for the real Malavon to pop in.

When the real Malavon pops in, throw everything at him. He seems to have a globe of invulnerability up, so most magic is out. Just keep whacking him with good old melee and ranged weapons. It'll take a while and you'll run around a little, but keep the pressure on and he'll drop sooner or later.

here's my take: if you have some charm/fear/confusion rings, helms, or potions, use those and focus on Malavon's "double" and "real" exclusively... he is going to keep pounding your party with spells (which require savings throws that are a lot less "random" than chopping up an umberhulk) once he is gone, you can move your party to an area that is not in his most recent gas/fog spell range, and keep the hulks in that gas zone.

see-- the gas spells that Malavon casts also affects the umbers... so, they'll be weaker by the time you get around to them, but you'll have dusted off the wizard already, so no more nasty spells from his wasted butt.

the iron golemns are strong, but slow. a "strength" potion/spell, or "haste" spell will help to pound them into rust.
