I just got there (And am really starting to hate Barrow Wights), and the frame rate has dropped to levels I havent seen in an IE game before. Im talking like 2fps, or lower. I havent seen anything like this in a 2d game before, ever.

Im running a AMD k6-2 450, 128mb ram, Voodoo banshee. Not a powerful machine i know, but it should still be more than adequate for IWD. Shoudnt it? I also have Trials of the Luremaster installed, as well as the latest patches.

Is this a problem with my game, or merely indicative of the number of enemies on this map? If it was a lesser slowdown id think the latter, but this is severe.

The slowdown on burial isle is a common problem. Try turning off things like ambient sounds, weather, combat sounds, and reduce combat feedback to a bare minimum. Make sure nothing else is running in background. ALso reduce your node pathfinding to something like 4000. Part of the problem is the large number of enemies that try to "path" to you. 2 fps sounds a bit extreme, but some slowdown is unavoidable.

Yes, but how high a level do you need to 'splode a barrow wight? And them running away can be more dangerous than them staying, if they run into a bunch of their friends.

Anyway both my clerics have had turn undead on almost continuosly since arrival. 'Sept when my mage/cleric needed to fry some poor wight.

15th or 16th level should suffice; successful chunk-turning may not happen on the first round. Try sending the cleric in invisibly and just have them stay in "turn undead" mode. Do note that one of the wailing virgins' attacks can damage the invisible cleric but not make the cleric the target of an attack.

11th level? I'm not sure; why not try it and tell everyone how it goes?

OK, I did it and most of my party didnt die once. The barrow wights werent too much of a problem, since I can usualy make them run away. The Drowned Dead and Wailing Virgins were a problem since their immune to Turn Undead at this level. Fireball barrages and magic missile salvoes were the order of the day. Hardest fight was the wailing virgin ambush in the barrows. Had to cheese that one somewhat. Also I had to leave that polar bear spirit well alone, since it was kicking my arse far too much.

Now im in gloofrost caves, my party is stil at level 11/12 and those polar worms and ice golems are tough. Fireballs and more fireballs I think. Thankfully the mage on Burial Isle was able to sell me a second Fireball scroll, else I would be in tears by this point.

amd k6 475 are quite good because i have 1 and it is rated at pentium 2 or 3 level for quality i personally think your ram is too low for good game quality as 128 ram is standard for pcs
