Whoo-hooo!!! thanks everyone!
It worked, and I set the default and got rid of all my junk programs both!!!!!

Now,,,,I was cussing up a storm a little while ago, because of another problem I caused for myself. I remember that the guy did not remove my dial-up modem from my unit, so I decided tonight to do so. Yet, instead of physically removing the modem, I uninstalled US Robotics software first. I had restarted my PC and a messagecome on saying that new hardware was detected...(the damn modem)...so it thought that I had just newly installed the crapper. Well, not only did it receive it into the connection file...it deleted my information on what my PC uses to access the web through roadrunner! My rr.popserver info was lost, I could not access the net, nor e-mail...I was unhappy. And at 1:30am in the morning with others in the house alseep...that was not a pretty picture. I looked all over for the info I needed to rekey the correct server info into the configuration so that I could regain access, but decided to reboot once more. It did not restore any information and everything is still blank.
So tell me...how the hell am I sitting here typing right now if my PC does not have the information keyed in as to the specs of connecting???
That is tonight's secret mystery.

So should I remove the dial-up modem from my PC and unistall the configuration for it once more? Is it worth it to remove the modem???? I suppose that is my real question now...

Yes it is... modem software can take up to half a gig of space, which is enough to have quite a few patches for games, windows, and othr programs that you use. In other words, having it can be a waste of space. Unless, that is, you consider removing it to be a waste of time

most modem drivers i've dealt with fit on floppy disks. i wouldnt think that could possibly take up half a gig of space.
I would think you should never have to take it out. you can if you want to. but its not neccissary

In Regedit, click Edit, then Find-(type in) Napster.
"Enter" starts the search, the delete key brings up the delete option (click yes on all entries related to Napster...if you look where it is finding them, you'll see it listed in the add/remove programs list)...F3 automatically continues the search for the next entry rather than clicking on find and find next constantly.

I am so bad...staying up past my bedtime again.
I need to go lol
Good Night and Good Luck Larry!
MONI! THANK YOU! I've been trying to get rid of that thing for months!

You wouldn't believe some of the crap of old programs that I found in the registry that I finally deleted!
I am talking stuff that I thought I had deleted years ago!

Yeah , I used to do that. Then I found out that my saves floppy had become de-gaussed by my evil brother. Moral : Check your backups, and watch out for younger (or older come to that) siblings.

Theres a program out their called TweakUI that has options to do all the things the windows should have - like deleting programs from the uninstall list, deleting URLS from the IE drop-down list and so on. Youll have to look for it though, since i didnt re-isntall it on my latest windows install, but IIRC its on microsofts site.

On the Modem issue - If you need the slot remove it, otherwise keep it against the day when your Broadband dies. Modem software taking up half a gig? That seems odd - mines take up about half a meg, which is tiny by todays standards.

And yes, Windows is a little bit anal when it comes to keeping old data. Finding all my brothers porno URLs still in the registry two years after he left was an interesting experience hed rather not repeat

It probably depends on the company, and the amount of absolute junk they through in the same file...
