I was trying to set up the "icewind.ini" file for cheats and must have accidentally deleted some of the text or something. Now, everytime I try to play my game, a message shows up saying "An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 582 Programmer says: Unable to open BIFata/GUImos.bif". Is there any way to fix this? If not, how do I save my current characters with all their experience and items? Thanks.

Hey Jekwar,
Re keeping save games: I'm assuming this works like most games I've had to do this crap with. My PC is temperamental about that sort of thing, so I do it fairly often. Here's what you do: Explore Black Isle/Icewind Dale/mpsave. Copy the folders in here to a temporary directory (any folders in here should have the same name as your saves). Uninstall the game. Reinstall. Move the save game folders from where you stored them back into the mpsave directory (as above). That should do it. So long as it's the same release of the game, sorted (without wanting to get all cockney) Maff |
