Well its a only a hundred years today since the Wright brothers thought that walking was not good enough. And to think I’ve been working in the Aviation industry for nearly a quarter of that time!! gee I feel old now
The jumbo jet *747* first flight was back in 69 and even the first supersonic airliners are now retired. Maybe Aviations glory years are behind it, but what an effect the invention has had on the world. Do we have any aviation fans, pilots, industry workers on the board with stories to tell or just the odd comment? Has anybodys lives been truly affected by Aviation? What was your first flight and what plane was it in? [ 12-12-2003, 09:22 PM: Message edited by: wellard ]

Cool topic, Wellard. I had no clue it had been a hundred years today since the birth of aviation
While I find flight pretty interesting, it's only really affected my life on a superficial level, allowing me to see lots of countries and also granting me the opportunity to study here in the US (I'm from England/Holland). My dad used to be a pilot and is still really fanatical about it all, pointing up at the sky every two seconds, but I can't say I share that level of enthusiasm My first ever flight? An AirFrance plane to Marseille in 1984. I cried from beginning to end

Mr Fokker was asking why you abandoned ship, Wellard.

Hmmm I worked in aviation since the days of piston engines. And I still hold a commercial/instrument licence... God! it's been a long time.

First flight, Cessna 152
Aviation has always been part of my life. My dad flys, my brother flys, my uncle flys, both my grandpas fly, and my grandma worked for a good 20 years in LAX tower. If I didn't have so much flying influence in my life, I might grow up to be an accountant, argh! Hats off to aviation, what would we do without it
