Fallout 3
Just got back from the store with the Collector's Edition and the Collector's Edition guidebook. Anyone else got it? Anyone planing to?
I'm about to install it. I'll report back later with more info but I have to say the stuff in the Collector's Edition Lunchbox is pretty nice, everything is themed had lots of details.

Re: Fallout 3
Luvian, I plan on getting it. I would love to hear your gaming impressions, etc. There were so many naysayers even before it was released. I certainly don't trust Official Website Reviews; I always listen to people who actually play it.
I read on another forum of one who got it and is now playing it and love it. Let us know how it goes. |

Re: Fallout 3
It looked so terribly disjointed on all of the leaked footage; things didnt make sense and often were seemingly contradictive. Eg. a crater of a nuclear bomb that did not explode.
Could you give some comments on this and how it appears to you?

Re: Fallout 3
Well, if the impact was great enough you could get a crater from unexploded ordinance.

Re: Fallout 3
Except that that would entail the bomb dropping at meteor like speeds...

Re: Fallout 3
Gameplay wise it's not a Fallout game like the two previous ones, but that was pretty obvious.
The game so far is fun, well crafted, they put a lot of attention on the details and ambiance. Gameplay is interesting, there are full dialogues with choices and all. The one thing that's still up in the air is content. I'm not far enough in to know if the game will be long or short, if there's lots of stuff to do, if the game has a good balance of rpg and action etc. I'm still doing the quests in and around the first city but what I've seen so far is great. Oh and I liked the tutorial/prologue in the vault. The game is well crafted there's no doubt about it. Just don't expect to be playing the old Fallout and you should like it. I think they did an overall good job of recreating the setting but this is a different game. They did manage to find a good balance between real time and turn based. It's nice to be able to pause the game and order your character to shoot your enemy's flamethrower, and then watching it happen. Edit: About the bomb; if you're talking about the one in the middle of the first town, the crater is really small. It seem reasonable to me to think it could have been created from something heavy being dropped from a plane or something. It's not a missile, it's a big cartoonish thing, think of a big boulder as far as mass and shape goes.
