I've been told to clean the screen you need to buy a cleaning special solution. Is this true? I don't wanna damage or streak my screen but then I don't want to go out and buy something I don't need to.

Well, you definitely don't need a special solution. Who on earth tried to convince you of that ?

The last person who tried to sell his product like that, ended up comiting suicide in his underground bunker in 1945.

Those good indian sales-reps at Dell of course!

Nah I used to always clean my CRT with a little bit of windex and it was fine...no streaking. Just thought I had to be a bit more careful with an LCD...

Warm water. It's available almost everywhere and costs very little.

Make sure you use a soft, lint-free cloth. Paper towel can scratch.

Lintfree as Vulcandude said, but only use water. Since chemicals can dull the clear plastic finish, only use water. if you have oily finger prints, warm water still gets it with a wipe.

ALSO---good idea here I came up with one day-- My LCD is usually always clean, but dust attracts to it, and with wipes, it gets into the corners and stays. Use a VERY soft bristle Paintbrush and carefully wipe across in lines. then fling the corners where the dust is.

Be careful not to brush to crazy, because you could smack the metal part of the middle of the brush (that holds the bristles). but it works perfectly, and gets all the dust off!

My wife found that a wet one cleaning pad works well.( IF USED VERY GENTLY ). 2 years ago, my daughter wanted to personalize my brand new LCD and color the ears on Mickey Mouse from a Disney page with a Sharpie marker. My wife patiently and carefully wiped the ink off and my daughter learned never never never touch Daddy's computer screen again.
