The New Diamond Age
Armed with inexpensive, mass-produced gems, two startups are launching an assault on the De Beers cartel. Next up: the computing industry. By Joshua Davis -------------------------------------------------------------- Very interesting article, looks like someone may finally kill the DeBeers stranglehold on diamonds and at the same time allow a quantum leap in processor power

Man, this is pretty cool. Maybe they could replicate gold, or even oil...

SecretMaster, the alchemists gave up on gold back in the dark ages. I ran this diamond idea by a friend of mine and he said it wasn't likely to work. But, I never said he was well-versed in the subject. He didn't really give it much thought either. I think with a little work it could be plausible. How widespread is the knowledge of these techniques?
