okay, i've been going out of my mind trying to pick what type of thief class i should be. i tried going multi fighter/thief but i read that going multi suck cause you lose proficiency and ability points. So i dumped that. i wanted to be a assasin single class but everybody said that single class thieves are bad and should be dualled. i also tried mage/thief until i realize i like being in the battle rather than casting spells and stuff.
i just don't know what to do. i restarted and gone though chapter one so many times, i know the map and how many enemies there are. please help. and don't worry about spoiling me i passed the game once already. thanx |

Swashbuckler if you want to dual to mage. (due to combat bonus)
Assassin if you want to dual to fighter. (due to poison damages) Or you can dual to a thief from a Kensai. (due to potential damage and hitpoints) ------------------ Long live H22A1!!!!! |

The only potential problems I see with single class thief are:
1) low hitpoints (relative to fighter classes) 2) no spells (you can overlook this if you have 2 mages type characters in party already) 3) limited in combat (you advance slower in proficiency points, THAC0, and you only get to be proficient) ------------------ Long live H22A1!!!!! |

If you start with a Kensai and dual to thief immediately, then the hitpoint/thac0/specialisation problem will be partly solved and you can continue to play with thief as your active class (meaning you'll only level up as a thief and don't have to 'lose' exp. points to a second class (as a multi character would))

I have always loved thieves since BG1. I have found that a Fighter/Thief works very well. You will het more HP, weapon proficiencies, better armor than studded if u dont want the thieving abilities, and best of all better THAC0.
I have my Fighter/Thief use the Katana and i backstab with it and i usually never miss and i dont really have to worry about taking a group of enemies by myself |

DarkJedi.
A Multiclassed F/T can only assign 2 points to a given weapon proficiency (pathetic imho) and no more. You can only gain 3 plus points by dualling a Fighter over to a thief. ------------------ One love, peace. |
