I was going to get that same router, the same one that many of my friends have...but I was told by a tech guy that he stopped selling Linksys routers as soon as the Tech guys at Roadrunner reported that a very obvious hole could be found in their firewall. What do you think?
Any firewall - any security device, ever - has security holes. The fact that this hole was found by techs rather than hackers means its been plugged, probably with no actual succesful hacks. I would be more worried by a device thats never had a security hole reported, because its far more likely they've never been found than that they dont exist. I did a brief search and found reports of a hole found in linksys, but I have no idea if its the one you refer to. Firmware upgrades tend to close known holes rapidly.

Theres a site :

Hit the "shields up" link. That claims to analyse your computer for vulnerabilities, it does report my currently wide open computer as fairly secure, but it seems to be accurate - win98 dosent have some of the features it thinks are secure, so it makes sense it cant penetrate them.
