ooh, this is a GOOD and very useful thread!
I ran into the rust monster but luckily got to shoot at it with a bow from a distance. *makes a note to get a wooden club* I doubt anyone here has any problems with umber hulks, but I found that they can be stunned a short while when you use sonic spells (songburst? can't recall the actual name of that one). Make sure you take a big, mean half-orc with you!
There's some dwarves that you need to fight down by some statues on the earlier levels. These are good for lots of $$$.

Yeah that armour they drop can get you some good coin.
Speaking of the dwarves on level 2. if you have invested some points into crafting armour and weapons there are some components near those dwarves in a secret room that can also make you a bit of coin if you make items out of them.

ALways keep an edged weapon and blunt weapoon in your quickslots.

Wait until you mop the floor with the enemies before descending to the next level. If you are still having trouble with your current batch of enemies there is no way that you are strong enough to venture forward.

*NEW TIP*
Are you a spell caster that is having problems with Raksasha being immune to your spells ? Invest in the following. 1) A Crossbow 2) A Scabbard of Blessing 3) Some crossbow bolts Firstly equip the crossbow. then cast bless on the bolts. You will now see a new property on the bolt (OnHit Slay Raksasha) When this bolt hits the Raksasha it will slay that sucker. Happy Hunting!

Are you a mage struggling to defeat tough melee enemies like those Xanather thieves or kraken fighters in Skullport (or indeed further below)? Fed up of getting felled with a 100pt sneak attack through your stoneskins whilst your Mordy swords are chopped into pieces in seconds?
Invest in a little specialisation for Necromancy and by the time you hit around level 22 it will be impossible for Xanather thieves to make their saves for Wail of the Banshee. They still rate as impossible, so bang one off whilst they're running towards you and rake in the XP. Not to mention you don't have to die [ 10-17-2004, 10:20 PM: Message edited by: shamrock_uk ] |

At low levels, for magic users Umber Hulks can be tough opponents, but luckily have terrible will saves...Finger of Death does wonders.
Had enough of those cursed parties of drow on levels 1 and 2 slaughtering your low-level mage (especially those archers!)? Take advantage of low fortitude saves and cloudkill... If you're having difficulties with traps, you can pick up a lens of detection in Skullport (the only place I've seen it) - it's worth looking for (thanks for the tip-off farmerdh ) [ 10-17-2004, 10:36 PM: Message edited by: shamrock_uk ] |
