I make it to my 500th post . It kinda seems appropriate to take a deep breath and review things at this (semi) momentous point and perhaps jot down a few philosophical observations which may be of interest to fellow members of the IW community........
On the other hand SODDIT!!!!!! It's been fun, and (generally) laughs all the way and I can genuinely say that I have never regretted joining this community and look forward to my next 500 contributions. I wondered what I could do to mark the occasion in a fitting manner, and decided that the best way was to share a poem that kind of captures the spirit of carefree escapism which is one of the main pleasures of coming here. The Land of Counterpane by Robert Louis Stevenson WHEN I was sick and lay a-bed, I had two pillows at my head, And all my toys beside me lay To keep me happy all the day. And sometimes for an hour or so I watched my leaden soldiers go, With different uniforms and drills, Among the bed-clothes, through the hills; And sometimes sent my ships in fleets All up and down among the sheets; Or brought my trees and houses out, And planted cities all about. I was the giant great and still That sits upon the pillow-hill, And sees before him, dale and plain, The pleasant land of counterpane. ------------------ Regards Mouse [This message has been edited by Mouse (edited 09-01-2001).] |
