Okay, I'm building a new system and as always the choice of video card is the last thing remaining. Anyone have any suggestions among these choices:
(1) BFG Asylum nVidia GeForce FX 5950 Ultra (2) ATI Radeon 9800XT 256mb (3) nVidia GeForce FX 5600 Ultra 128 mb I threw in the last one because its about 400$ cheaper than the other two alternatives. The basic system is a 3.0 ghz P4, 1 gig of ram and WinXP Pro.

i'm ok but not a PC expert. Yet i would select either 1 or 2 should suffice. if you're gonna build one, might as well get the good stuff. i have nvidia now, but when i get around to getting a 2nd PC, i'm seriously thinking about ATI over Nvidia. BTW make sure you get at least a 350 PSU. i learn the hard way that a 250watt dell system just doesn't cut it when considering upgrading in the future. i'm not buying dell again because it's not upgrade friendly. I'd take a Radeon, If for nothing else then for Half-Life 2. But 5950 Ultra has slightly better results. Nothing to brag about, but it's just a bit better. Still, I'd take a Radeon.

In this case I'd go for FX 5950.

P.S.
Depends on the manufacturer. If you can take an ASUS Radeon, then no question about it, take it. Gainward's GeForce is better than any other GeForce, but Radeon has ASUS, Sapphire and just got ABIT. Plain and simple, take ATi!
