The spider thing is pretty nasty, but consider that we breathe in/ swallow thousands of dustmites every day.
The explanation I heard for saying "Bless you" was that in medieval times when people thought that all illness was caused by bad spirits, a sneeze would eject said spirit and saying "God bless you" protected you from having it re-enter.

The eyes popping out one when sneezing and trying to suppress a sneeze: I have tried to suppress a sneeze, and as far as I know, no blood vessel ruptured and I'm still here so...
