Today, I visited a local bookstore and found a book called Monster Manual II. Is it a sequel, with just new monsters, or does it have the old ones updated as well? What do you think of it? When did it come out, I'm ashamed to say I never heard of this edition?

The Monster Manual II basicly has completely new and different monsters, including new (or upgraded) dragons, mechanical, undead, etc. There are two monster manuals for 3rd Edition that came out around three years ago.

3rd Edition
Monster Manual I: Old enemies from 2nd Edition and new.
Monster Manual II: No old enemies, all new or upgraded.

They're both pretty good, but I had hoped they would've included more of the old enemies from 2nd Edition in it.

I used the MM2 when I played AD&D 1st edition back in the mid '80s (man, I feel old now...) It was a sequel with new monsters. Hmmm, now I just might have to dig up my copy & do some reminiscing...

What I want to know is if that version has all the monsters(except for the oriental and specific world related)?

If you're looking looking for old updated monsters try these two:

Fiend Folio

and Tomb of Horrors

Thanks, but I'm looking for an universal guide. With all monsters. Or as most as possible.

Like I said BoB, it has a lot of monsters but not many of the ones that existed in 2nd Edition.
