Hello fellas...

I've lurked around here quite often and I'd like to first say that you guys are a great bunch of guys. I've seen you huddle together to help the newbies out and offer your expert advice.

Now I have a slight problem maybe somebody can help me with. I'm playing IWD (not HoW). I've installed the ease-of-use-pack and I'm starting to get an error that says, "Assertion failed in CSTORE.cpp" It's happened a few times in combat but it's happening everytime I try to buy something from the storekeeper in Severed Hand.

If it's a bug and I need to uninstall the patch I will, though I do like the fact that I can take my characters past level 10...

Thanks for the help, fellas!

Hi Jaguar, welcome...

I have to admit that I haven't used any of the IWD mods or ease-of-use packs, but this thread suggests that mods should be installed after patches.

Also, it's possible that the EoU pack is incompatible with IWD without HoW, or that you have a version that is supposed to work with HoW/TotL.

Perhaps some of the folks who get more technical than me (Azred, Dundee) can give you some more specific info. This is a new one on me.

Edit: I just did a search for "CSTORE" on the forum and only found cocobolomike's recent thread, so your specific problem doesn't seem to be in the archives.

Thank you for your quick reply, Aerich. I appreciate your help and I'll thoroughly read through Chocobolomike's thread.

Thanks again, fellas.

Question Mark

Welcome to the IW Forums, Jaguar and cocobolomike. Enter freely and of your own will....

We love newcomers here.

If you're really nice NobleNick will sing for you.

Ok, ok. Time to be a little more serious...or maybe not.

Since I'm at work I can't look into cstore.cpp. Not even I can install IWD on my work computer; someone in IT and/or management might frown upon that.

However, I'll look into it when I get home. Best-case scenario: I simply e-mail a copy of that particular file to you so you can paste it into the override folder. Worst-case scenario: you have to uninstall/reinstall IWD and any subsequent patches/mods.

Thank you, Azred. I look forward to fixing my game...and listening to NobleNick's signing. Is he a bard or something?

No, but he loves bards, as do many who play the game. Azred just likes to confuse the new guys

Ok, how 'bout this...

I'm just gonna uninstall/reinstall the game without the mod. I can't stand not playing. Will I have any problems keeping my savegames? Will it automatically prompt me to keep or delete the savegames?

Thanks again,

Jaguar

EDIT: Ok, uninstall/reinstall does keep your saved games. That's good. The mod was still there so I tried the game and I'm still getting the same error. Next step is to delete the mod folder and reinstall it without the bags of holding. I think that might be the problem, since it won't let me into the new store. I gotta work tomorrow so I'll try again after work.

Jaguar, would you mind e-mailing me a copy of your current saved game? This will help determine whether the problem is with your computer, your installation, your mods, or perhaps something else.

Really, really mysterious.

Looking under C:/Program Files/Black Isle/Icewind Dale, I can't seem to find my saved games. I assumed there would be a folder named Saved or something but now I'm just confused. I've looked under every folder and don't recognize anything as my saved games...

Help?
