I'm thinking the idea of a nice gift basket (temporary, true) along WITH a nice pin or brooch (engraved or not) AND a moderate gift check so she can go buy her some books or knick-knacks, rounded out with a card signed by everyone would be nice.
And instead of a group pic (if that's impractical), maybe individual pics of each of you from your own pic albums at home...then combine them in a multi-frame or make a collage...especially if you have pics of office parties or anything like that...

When my receptionist retired, we gave her an engraved desk clock. She really seemed to like it.

Where did you find a desk clock that can be engraved Attalus? That sounds like a unique kind of gift, a permanent one, and useful as well

ROTFL, yes allhismoney mostly I reckon LOL. He was in the military too so she still gets all his medical benefits.
Laws were different back in her day I think, and if you are married for a decent amount of time, and are a housewife, then you can get alimony because the wife has spent all her time raising children and has gotten little, if no, job experience, so is unable to support herself once divorced. Which IMO is reasonable. But, thing is, the alimony Anne gets from her Ex is permanent (except if she had married again, which she didn't), and she has worked jobs and has been able to support herself for a good 20 years, yet he still has to pay. Again, I THINK laws are different now, where if a woman finally gets on her feet, gets a profession, and is well able to support herself, then alimony is cancelled. But I cannot say for sure though? |
