I have several comments on this thread. They are as follows:

1. Sir Taliesin, great sig block!

2. The whole event was friggin hilarious. Punk decides he can use "a mild sort of violence" with impunity. Punk is shown he is dead wrong. Punk (perhaps) learns the lesson many people in this world have not learned, which is "be prepared to face the consequences of your actions."

3. Complete self-defense/instinctive reaction. When I was a teenager, I came home from my job as a restaurant busboy at about 2:30am. One night, as I rounded the corner in the dark hallway of my family's home, my younger brother jumped out in front of me and snarled in an attempt to scare me. Without thinking, I slugged him in the gut rendering him breathless, sore, and embarrassed. My parents did not punish me, rather they told him that he should have known what would happen if he surprised someone in that fashion. Evidently, he learned his lesson.

4. Our societyin the US could do with some more consequences for people's actions. I believe Californians are paying the price for their shortsighted extremism now, in the form of rolling blackouts.

5. Once again, it was really funny.

Yah good for the californians their price cap law made us pay 200 percent more for energy cause we were required by the president to keep giving energy to california and we didnt have a similar law so we end up witht the extra cost the californians should be paying.

Ye gods! What happened to your common sense, you guys! I know SOME of you advocates of violence are quite young and irresponsible, but some of you are adults, for goodness sake!
Come on, guys! Stop messing about! You've really got me worried!

(to people who haven't read our debates on other threads, this is a semi-private joke, lol!)

Jesus would have turned the other cheek of course. Precott is not Jesus though Also as I said, the turn the other cheek idea is so contrary to human nature, yet so necessary to world piece. Because the west has entrenched "christian" laws, it can blind one to how radical a figure Jesus was. I would have a hard time not reacting like Prescott.

However, I have not responded when I have been subjected to violent attack in the past. Once a "Grizzley Adams" lookalike was harrassing a black guy on a bus in Oz. I stood up for the black guy so when we got of the bus the Grizzley fellow smacked me one in the mouth, yelling a question regarding whether I wanted to persue the physical nature of the discussion further. Though I didn't hit him, he took off pretty quick a little freaked out by my restraint.

In deadly seriousness there have been other times where I've had to show considerable restraint - as Leonis will testify. This has been where mental space has allowed conscious choice of nonaction however.

No offense, Caleb!
By the way, don't bother spelling it! Just call me F! I know Fljotsdale is a pain (in more ways than one, lol!).
