i figured it out by myself instead of chosing yes to renaming the file and replacing it i deleted the townmsk1-3 and replaced it with mask 1-3which i re-named to townmsk1-3..

I thought Windows XP had a "compatability mode" for running older games in a simulated 9x environment? i only mention it not just because it's advertised but i've used it. i've not used it for Wizards and Warriors but used it on friend's computers to help them get older games working. I still don't have XP because I'm jobless and broke.
