Also not much fun is the report from the plumber today...we're going to need to take down insualtion and wallboard from two walls in our basement at some point so they can estimate the cost on adjusting some pipes that are 'back tilted'. Not what I wanted to hear today (we'd had water back up and go all over the floor in one bathroom and down to the basement, luckily not much and we cleaned up fairly quickly, but still a royal pain!)

You didn't get John the Wonder Plumber over there, did you, Cloudy? In any case, I truly hate plumbing with a passion these days....
I got two sets of news today. The minivan needs another major brake job, involving new rotors and pads on the front and pads (or drums, I forget which) on the back. Ended up being cheaper than I feared... which was good. Also had a report from Critter Control today. We've been hearing noises, and he confirmed that we're sharing the house with mice and birds. For a mere $500-600, he'll get everything squared away. I let him put rodent poison in the attic, and I'll do the rest myself. Probably for around $250, including the new big ladder I've been meaning to buy.

And, in other news... Cloudy, a big mug of whatever Zebodog's drinking when he comes in. My treat... so put it on my account (on account of I ain't gots none ). Is that jar of perpetual M&Ms still sitting around somewhere? I'll keep it company in the back...

Oh boy what a day. Came into work this morning and I was the first one in, nothing unusual there. I go across the street to get some OJ and a crap 7-11 breakfast sandwich, and when I'm walking back towards my work I see an old friend of my boss's pulling into the driveway. Again, nothing unusual, he visits often to see my boss and a lady that works in my office who he used to be married to.
So I approach him and say Hi, and tell him that nobody else is in the office yet but me. I'm in a good mood cause the weather is finally mild. He says to me that he actually came to see how my boss was doing. I'm like huh? He says "Oh you don't know." Apparently my boss on Thursday night, shortly after I left, passed out coming down the stairs at my work. He had gone upstairs cause he didn't feel well, felt chilled, and when he came back down I guess something hit him. Luckily the lady who works in the office with me, and another attorney, was there, and they called an ambulance. That's all I got re info. So we walk inside the office and my breakfast sandwich is just forgotten and I'm not even hungry anymore. Only thing I can think is to call Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital, as I figure that's where he'd want to be taken to. I call there, and thankfully, they pass me onto my boss' phone and he sounds OK. I told him that I heard he passed out, and he said no, he just sat on the steps with his hands in his head. He's also apparently been passing blood in his stool. So I'm thinking maybe he's been losing blood, hence the chills and him passing out. Anyways, he seems feisty on the phone, ready to get out of the hospital already LOL. He didn't have a stroke or a heart attack, his vital stats are just fine. So they are running tests now. An hour later the lady who works with me, and the other attorney, show up at the office, and I tell them what my boss said on the phone at Walter Reed. I dunno. See, I'm attached to my boss cause I've worked closely with him since 1989, he's in his 80's and like the Grandfather I never had. He is the kindest man I've ever met in this world as well. Anyways, they are both telling me how it went, and kinda joking in a slight way about it, cause they aren't close to him at all. I try to keep this in mind. Anyways, they told me he just kind of "melted" going down the stairs. Luckily he didn't pitch forward or fall backwards hard and hit is head. Instead, he just gently slumped down, spread eagle on his back. His face was totally grey and he stopped breathing for a minute. Lady I work with: "I thought he was dead! He looked ashen and dead!" Other Atty: "I was like saying comforting things to him, and it was like...you know those e-mails that people send you? With a picture, and you are instructed to look closely at it, and then something jumps out at you and scares the shit out of you? That's what it was like, he just out of nowhere opened his eyes and bolted upright!" Lady I work with: "It was like watching one of those scary movies, where a corpse just rises up!" Other Attorney: "He saw all the firetrucks and ambulances outside and said 'What's all that?' and we told them they were for him. He said 'Oh, I'm OK' but his bladder had let go. So here he is, sitting in urine and saying he's OK, *laughs* " I dunno, again I don't think it's funny at all. I know it was a bit of a harrowing experience for them, and once they heard from me he sounded OK, they probably felt free to kinda joke about it. Bah. I just hope that he is OK and whatever is wrong with him is something curable. To lose him is to not only lose my job since 1989, but to also lose a pretty significant person in my life that I care about. Sigh. Sorry, just had to get that out somewhere. Wow, LZ! That's a heck of a way to start the day. I do hope he's feeling better, and that they track down what's going on. My prayers and support go out to you, him, and his family.
After that... nothing I've got to add is important.

Wendy, I surely hope he is doing better and it was just low blood sugar or something! Keep me posted and I'm going to pray for Mr A. I know how special he is to you, sis! *HUGS*
Bungleau, LOL, no, we got a fairly competent plumber, as best I could tell. Now we just have to get the time/energy to take the walls/insulation down and call our plumber back, then we have to find the MONEY to do the work and then have insulation and walls rehung...ugh PS: the m&m jar is in the back, help yourself!
