I cannot believe Karen is not more concerned than she is! She just now told me, and she wasn't going to, but I made her...that MaryBeth had gone to the toilet today at a shopping store, and while Karen was preoccupied...the baby licked the flushing handle!!!!!!!!!

That has got to be dangerous!! I mean, the diseases that could be there!!!
What the hell do I do? Karen does not seem worried abuot it, nor does she think that the slight fever that the baby got today is in relation. She said she would just monitor her health and call a doctor if she got worse. Well...then it might be too late!

What do I do?

Do they make anti-biotics weak enough for babys? Might as well get some to be on the safe side.

How old is she ? If she is under a year old. You shouldn't worry to much. At that age, a baby has still all the antibodies of the mother. If she's older, you still don't need to worry that much. Kids get fever or are slightly ill a lot. It could just be that she's having some minor child desease. Mostly kids recover pretty fast from those. Start to worry when she's still having problems tomorrow.

Don't worry about it. No disease could live there for very long. There is an extremely minor chance she might get sick, but it's unlikely.

Did you know that most keyboards and phones in offices have more bacteria than the toilets at most public bathrooms?

Sorry to hear that, Larry

It's pretty late at your side for a doctor to be still seeing patients, right? Is the baby really ill or mildly uncomfortable? Personally I wouldn't recommend getting any off-the-shelf medicine for babies; they're stll vulnerable and the wrong dosage could cause serious problems.

Maybe you should talk to Karen again and trust her on this one if she feels there's no real danger.

Larry in all honesty your being a bit hysterical. Listen to your wife! Just keep an eye on her, licking a toilet handle isnt the best thing but its certainly not a dire emergency. And DONT give her any grown-up anti-biotics. I wouldnt give any of any type unless its actually needed.

I am assuming your child was in the ladies room since she was with your wife. If thats the case , you have nothing to worry about. Women are the CLEANEST things on the face of the earth!!

It just scares me that she will get some strange disease from licking such an unsanitary object. It freaked me out when I learned about it! She is two years old, by the way.
