One of my favorites is when I am machining oak or walnut. I love those smells! It brings into remeberance of past projects I have worked on and the solitude of shutting yourself off to the world and concentrating on whats at hand to build
Some others are
Smells of the water
blooming flowers
steak
fresh cut hay

The smell of backing bread has to be my best memory.
The smell of bacon cooking
The smell of flower blooming in the spring mixed with the smell of fresh cut grass

there are probably many more

I have to agree with the pine scent. There is nothing better
then sitting down by a fire with pine cones in it.
Not only does it smell good, but it can set the mood.

I like all the things that Saz mentioned errr well with the possible exception of his wife, though Im sure she smells wonderful.

Id like to add the smell my children had when they were newborns.

Hey Saz! Great thread! I have a mock orange in my front yard but I can't convince the silly thing to flower, seems to be growing and leafing like gangbusters, though.

Smells... I'm one who suffers chronic allergies so I'm pretty sensitive to them.
Pumpkin pie(spices) ...ooooooooooh yes! On a crisp fall day, almost nothing compares. Cinnamon, cloves, wonderful!

Salt breezes at the ocean. That's a multi-sensual event for me. The air moving the sound of the waves and gulls and the slightly tangy salt smell/taste. Reminds me of many times I'd go to the ocean with family or a friend and her family.

Almond. There is just something about it that I find soothing.
Lime: exhilarating! Had a shower gel once that was lime scented. Whoo! Made morning showers a wake-up experience! Most citrus will do that, but lime is extra zingy.

Rain...yes, a rainy spring day. Something very nostalgic there, don't ask me why.

Cloudy

Of course, Blade! Some of my favorite sounds are:

A baby's laughter
Wind whispering through the pines
The crunch of leaves under one's feet
The soft hiss of snow as it falls
The roar of the ocean

Great thread Saz! I was just thinking about this very thing on my way to work this morning.
I have to agree with Kazara, having grown up on a small island, the smell of the sea is very comforting and homelike to me.
The whole holiday melange does it for me; spices, candles, pine trees, all that happy christmas-y stuff.
Oddly enough, the smell of fresh plaster is a real happy-memory-recaller for me, as my father was a plasterer. Lots of happy times in new houses.
The smell of a cat. Always have had cats in my life.
Patchouli and sandalwood... yeah, I admit it, I'm just an old hippie.
