My turn...I could name 1,000s, but I want to name particularly those that have extra meaning to me...

Gasoline (When I was 3yrs. old, I fell into a barrel of it and had to be rushed to the Hospital, or something...I don't really remember...but I love the smell!)
Wood burning in the winter(Thanks Sazerac for that reminder)
The fragrance of my wife
Bacon frying in the morning
The scent of the air just before a storm hits.
Opening up a new PC game, that is sill in it's box.
The smell of cooking steak for street vending tacos on a Mexican path.

Wow, all these gasoline smells! Gasoline usually makes me nauseated, but what the hey! Whatever works!

And then of course there's Lilarcor's favorite smell: "I LOVE THE SMELL OF DAISIES IN THE MORNING!"

Oh, one other one I almost forgot...the smell of candle smoke and candle wax. I guess I associate it with churches; it has an almost sacred quality to it.

LOL Saz! Go figure on the gasoline! I just like the smell of it LOL, albeit in a slight wafting kinda way, not inclined to be like ol' Larry LOL and swim in it!

Maybe Perfume companies should know about this, the high popularity of gasoline scent. Could create new perfume, Eau de Petrol? Amber Dreams? (hehe, sis) , Le Femme de Premium? Hey, could make some money man. If us women ever run out of gas in our car, we could always use our handy-dandy perfume to not only fragrance us, but get us to our destination as well! Two birds, two birds...one stone LOL

The smell of the nape of a woman's neck
the smell of fresh baked german rye
the smell of a baby
the smell of the ash and cinder and steel as I work the forge
the smell of fresh paint as I squeeze it out on to my pallett
the smell of magniola in bloom
the smell of the air just before a storm hits, and after
the smell my nephews have with there bringing of a life still full of wonder,
sand in thier shoes after a day at the beach, going to the fair, counting stars and fireflies.

Okay, okay - my turn!

Most of what everyone else has listed, but here are a few I haven't seen yet...

scents:
mountain air (especially right before or after a rain)
REAL vanilla (not perfumes or scented candles)
Apple pie
clover
wild roses
cotton candy
puppies and kittens (for the first few weeks or just after a good bath)
fresh cut wild onions (goes with fresh cut grass)
marshmallows roasting
just-burnt matches (for me - goes w/wood burning in winter)
October in the South

sounds:
rain on a tin roof
a child being tickled
owls
a train passing in the night (unless it blows it's horn and scares the wits out of you)
whale song (especially humpback)
cardinals (the bird, not the Catholic)

sights:
shooting stars on a clear night
sunset on the ocean (if you are quiet, you can hear the hiss as the sun touches the water)
sunrise in the mountains (I've got some great pics from the Smokeys - I'll have to post them!)

P.S. Avatar, IMHO, I just think you have never smelled the ocean at the right time. If you have access, try to find a spot that isn't near a fishing wharf and that doesn't have a lot of flotsam on the beach. Granted, the ocean doesn't always smell great; but if you get a good spot on a good day - it's DEVINE!
