Absolutely. Mercantile affects the price you're able to get from items. But the whole bribe/taunt/praise menu is controlled by Speechcraft and Personality.

Be sure to walk into a book store or temple on occasion and read everything they have...
Might get you a few skillpoints

What about armour skills? I'm wearing a heavy cuirass, and I've had a few fights where I've been hit and also where they've tried to hit me and failed. But I don't have any points towards a skill point in heavy armour (or any armour). I have something like 55 towards a long blade skill point but nothing for armour. How does that work?

Your Armor skills increase when you are hit. If you only wear partial Heavy Armour then you will not automatically gain experience - only blows against the body part covered with Heavy Armour gives experience towards it.

Question Mark

Armor skills (including Unarmored, and Block if wearing a shield) increase when your foe would hit you (they succeed on their 'to hit'), but you avoid damage (you succeed your 'avoid') and it is based on the armor part/target area. You can mix and match armor pieces.

get your block skill even higher. you'll notice a difference.

mixing armor altogether isn't a good idea, you'll get a lesser total AR than you wear one type of armor only.

Well, my Dunmer vixen is rather vain, so she worries less about AR as to how it LOOKS!
