I'm trying to get to level 5 in the warrior's guild so I can get the fletchery trait to make money. So I got the clan invitations to give to the stout guards so I went to the stout mines and the guards by the king wouldn't take them so who do I give them to??????

You should be able to give the 'Clan invitation' to any of the guards that are by the doors. Either in the throne room or the treasure vault.

I tried giving it to them but they wouldn't take it. Could it be because I'm still doing Castle Shurugeon? Just trying to get a jump on fletchery. I only tried the guards in the throne room haven't found the treasury yet.

If the your Ranger has the quest and the scroll, the gaurds should take it. There are no other conditions.
I always walk through the throne room door and give it to the gaurd on either side. You might try clicking on 'talk' first. I know I remember them saying...' I can not talk now, I am on duty '..before I gave it to them...Then when I gave it to them, they say ..'Hmmm, what is this? Very interesting..blah, blah, blah..Thank you for delivering it.' Now that I think about it, I don't remember if they ever actually took the scroll. If they do , their packs might be too full to take it. Either try another guard or click on 'trade'.

Ok thanks I'll try that just finished Shurugeon Castle so I'm off to the mines anyway.
