Windows ME is one of the worst versions of Windows to come out in a long time. I had it on my latest PC, and I have since upgraded to Windows XP. It seems much more stable. Unfortunately, the upgrade is $99. I would recommend upgrading if you can afford it.

I would Highly recommendo you update your sound card drivers as well (you find out whta sound card you have, the same way you did your video card). I had a lot of problems with my last card and directx8. So undate that and your directx I think version 8.1 comes with the game.
