DraconisRex hit the nail on the head... linu is usefull and really cute
but grimknaw is the bread and butter and frankly as an accompaniment to
my neutral monk he is perfect in fact I was thinking to shift towards evil
and join the long death... but the rat won't talk to me anymore...next time he gets dominated or confused I think I will kill him for fun...

Example of the awesome might of 2 monks...

None of the dragons have lasted more than 3 rounds and none have
delt damage to my pc. ( I used no buffs ).

So far only orc champion(double axe), some tribes man with a battle axe ( hit me for over 40 3 times in a row yikes ). and ( about 6 firegiants with 1 chanpion ) have come even close to killing me... and grimknaw only died at the hands of those firegiants.

To be fair I have only just begun the Creator ruins but so far no trouble.

I'm finding Boddynock really handy in chapter 3. I'm playing a fighter with a few levels of rogue. First fight we get in, Boddynock casts Stoneskin on me, and it lasts quite a while. He then wastes half a dozen spells buffing himself up, but he eventually gets to the fireballs and cones of cold. He's good back up for a melee type, and he usually stays far enough back casting that he doesn't get attacked too often. He also has a tendency to cast invisibility on me, which lasts all of one attack. I wish I had some control over his spell list.

I always and ONLY used Tomi. Then again, I like to be a fighter myself. I don't exactly worry about healing, there's plenty of potions and kits to go around. And with good offensive and defensive skill, with the OK DEX bonus and Feats, my char didn't get hit much anyway. However traps and locks are another issue, and Tomi was really useful there.

So yeah, one and only henchman I ever used was Tomi, though at the end of each chapter I removed him, hired every other henchman in a row, listened to their story and completed their quests. Once that was done - back to Tomi and move on to another chapter.

If you're a caster type, then you may want the "Red Tiger" to be the meatshield for you, or Grimngnaw smack mobs and draw attention while you prepare to blow them away. You choice

I found that not using a henchman worked better to my favor as I play multi-player online. I had too many problems with henchmen attacking me whenever I would return to a game. Much easier otherwise. When I did have a henchman/woman, I preferred Linu though. She saved my booty many a day. LOL
