BioWare is thinking about developing new Neverwinter Nights content, but on a smaller scale than an expansion pack you purchase in a retail store. This content would be available for public download on a pay per download basis.

We would like to understand how much value you place on certain components of modules. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 meaning not important and 5 meaning very important, rate how important the following features would be if you were to consider purchasing a downloadable module from BioWare.

Interresting idea but it raises some questions:

1. How would you pay for this content? With PayPal? I don't have PayPal and I don't know if I would get it just to download some new content. And it wouldn't be available in stores to buy unless the make some kind of CD with all these goodies. But that would make it a new expansion pack.

2. If you created a module using some of this new content, would you need to download the content to play the module just like a hak pack? In that case it would be the first time, except for the OC's, that you would have to pay to play a module online. Isn't that against the idea of the free online play of NWN?

While I would welcome content only expansions and official modules for downloads myself there are concerns of fracturing the community into the haves (can pay to downlaod) and the have-nots(can't/won't pay to download) so I dont know if it would be worth it on the whole.

I mean if I developed a module using download only pay contnet and only 20% of the community was using that content then I would have a significantly smaller base to draw players from then if the same thing were done as a periodical expansion rather than doled out each month, but Bioware could cut alot of costs going the download route by cutting out the Atari distribution middle-man.

Tough decision to form an opinion on for me.

Majority of people playing this game are under 18 so usually won't have access to a credit card. However, if it was good I would pay for it.
