I can't find where the silt striders are? You know the insect-taxies you take to Balmora? The lady said across the bridge and to the east but I can't find them.

Great game! Love the music and the controls - very easy to master.

Also I have a broadsword and it has 3 different sorts of damage, so I assumed there would be 3 ways I could use it in combat. But I can only seem to sort of bang it down from above - no thrusting and so on. How does that work?

Aelia, in every city where there's a silt strider, they're situated near the main gate. And if you still have a hard time finding it, simply look up, you have to walk up to a platform to pay for your trip. Also follow the sound, those bugs make a very loud kinda yawning sound. Can't miss it.

Edit: you can set your primary attack in the mainmenu. Depending on what kind of character you play, you can judge there what's best for you. I myself am a redguard knight with heavy stuff, so i hack and slash my way through the game.

Thanks Johnny! I'll look again. It's getting to night at the moment too, they might not be there then?

They're always there, day and night.

Second Question (I find it logical to anwser the first question last) - There are three different attacks you can make with all weapons. Chop (from above), Slash (sideways), and Thrust. To make a Chop attack you must stand still and attack, to make a Slash attack you must move sideways and attack, to make a thrust you must move forwards or backwards and attack.

First Question - Oh NO! Directions! Arrrghh! Okay okay, cool down, dont panic now. You found the bridge right? The wooden, small bridge? To the north? Leading over a small stream. Cross it, go east a little bit, look to the north... you SHOULD see it... please tell me you do! Please?

And a little bit on combat - the damage you give is NOT random. When damage says 3-18 it means that the weapon will deal 3 if you only make a fast click with the mouse, and 18 if you hold your mouse button down a little while before releasing the blow.
If you are on XBox, please convert the 'mouse button' thing in your head.

Hopes Helping

Ah, i didn't realise you're still in Seyda Neen. Listen to the yawning sound, you should be able to hear where it's coming from. And about attacking, i always use the same move, chopping. You can set it as "always chop" in the main menu.

as for attacking, I think it has something to do with your weapon skill. ie the higher the weapon skill is. the more damage you deal.

Thanks guys! Found it; I went over too many bridges and ended up on the road to somewhere scary. Freed some slaves though, so not all was lost! And I found some stuff in plants and mushrooms, I imagine if I was more skilled at alchemy or somesuch I might be able to use those?

Ah I see about the combat. Great, thanks! Have to go practice

You can always "eat" ingrediants. With alchemy equipment you can make potions. There is the option in the options section to "Use best attack". That way if the best damage range is a thrust, slash, or chop you use the one that best suits the weapon.

Enjoy!

You should keep a few of those herbs you find, they might come in handy later in the game.
