its a great idea and all, but how on earth would it work??
Surely a ground based laser would hit the underside of the cockpit and not be seen? How on earth would it be targeted so accurately to go through the cockpit window? And don't you usually have to have a laser shone directly into your eye to observe it, unless you can see where the beam contacts. So what if the laser puts a dot on the back of the cockpit wall where the pilot can't see it? Does anyone have a diagram of this? [ 05-21-2005, 01:48 PM: Message edited by: shamrock_uk ] |

Because then it would be raining lost, burning, American pilots over Washington.

I suppose all the radios on the ground are broken.
How can you get "lost" and not know you're in or near Washington, D.C.? Are they literally flying blind and cannot see all the monuments that are illuminated at night? GPS on the plane not able to tell when it is near the coordinates of the city? Any pilot idiotic enough to try and fly through D.C airspace almost deserves to be shot down.

As in the case of the guy that did it this last time, he was foolish enough to not check the weather report and restricted air-space notifications is what they said...and I do not think he had on his radio at the time...which is why I hear that the people over aviation is jerking his wings away from him for the screw-up.
LOL! I bet his really wet his pants when he saw those fighter jets and they dropped a few flares at him.

::tilts head slightly, cocks eyebrow:: Laser beams? ::shrugs, and wanders off, humming the Imperial March:: Dick Cheney! I should have expected to find you here holding Bush's leash. I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board...
::eventually comes to a liquor store:: "Are you 21? I need your ID." ::waves fingers:: You don't need to see my identification...
