Pope John Paul II is getting nutrition from a feeding tube through the nose, the Vatican said on Wednesday, shortly after the frail pontiff appeared at his window in St. Peter's Square and unsuccessfully tried to speak.

And be the first Pope ever to step down? Not a precedent he wants to set I think

Not all tradition should be followed unquestioningly -- especially where Catholicism is concerned.

Are they sure it's food what he's consuming there ? I'm always a tad suspicious when i see people with tubes or straws in their nose.

It's probably more of a personal thing than a nod to tradition though - as the Pope, he's been tasked with spreading the Word - this is simply another challenge on the road that he has to overcome. Resigning would be a spiritual crisis for him I think.
As an aside, does anyone know whether he's spoken to God? Or claimed to at least? |

When you are the Pontifex Maximus (hence "Pontiff" ) you probably speak with God on a daily basis, as you are (for Catholics) his highest appointed representative on Earth.

Now that we got rid of that Terri wench, let's go to court to have the Pope's feeding tuber removed. Who's with me?
