I have to say no. I have to let everyone know that I detest such places. I do not detest anyone here....

Ok, my own take on the matter:

I personally would not frequent one of the nude beaches and colonies, either, since, IMO, human beings in the raw are seldom overly attractive. I know *I* certainly wouldn't want to go out amongst a bunch of others naked, even if that was the accepted *norm*. However, I understand how others may feel about the matter.

Larry, to clear up a common misconception: most nudist camps are not orgies waiting to occur. Most of them are family-oriented, with parents and kids attending; most of the adults are 30 and 40-somethings, and even older. You most likely will not see 20-y.o. "beefcakes" out there. I have good friends who are into the nudist lifestyle. They go out to a private camp near Tyler, Texas. I've read their organization's bylaws and have been rather impressed with the degree of responsibility they assume. The camp organizers clearly state that if you are coming there looking for nothing more than sexual gratification, then that is not the place for you. This couple is a married couple with three children. Two of them are o.k. with the nude lifestyle, and one prefers not to go and instead stays with her grandparents on those weekends. There is no coercion and certainly no sexual abuse. To this family, it is a "lifestyle" choice, nothing more or less. There certainly is nothing pornographic about it whatsoever. "Hippie Hollow", down in Austin, TX, is again such a place, and even university professors, lawyers, and doctors frequent it.

Likewise, these places are not, from what I have heard, teeming with panting, maniacal homosexuals out to "rape" other members of their gender. There are some gay-only beaches in the U.S., of course; Fire Island in NY is one of the most famous one of these. Also, to clear up another misconception: most gays are not out lusting for every same-sex person that comes along. Consider for a moment: do you lust after every opposite-sex person you see? (If the answer is *yes*, you must take a lot of cold showers! ) It's the same for them. Again, I have gay friends (I once roomed with a lesbian couple and they were some of the best roommates I ever had and they certainly were not oversexed; they were like a married couple). I also met many of their friends, both male and female gay, through them. I found computer professionals, engineers, accountants, and one bartender. All of them were professional, neat, courteous...in short, the same as I was, except they had a different sexual persuasion. They were also *very* private in that expression. Like the rest of us, they don't like being gawked at, and those that do are a very tiny (and unfortunately vocal) part of their population. I think most of them would have been rather uncomfortable going to a nudist camp. They're already anxious enough about their lifestyle choice and how it impacts how others perceive them on a day-to-day basis.

Anyway, I hope this may help clear up some misconceptions.

Cheers,
-Sazerac

I have a funny story about what you are talking about!

I had won like a week of free tanning bed visits, and for the first three days, I went in and was getting a normal tan, underwear on.

Now, anybody going to tanning beds know that you start at 10 minutes, and work up to 20 minutes. On day four, I was at 20 minutes, but for some stupid reason, decided to go all the way!
I...hurt for a long time after that...

LOL! Where all tanning salons are different Larry. Some give you half an hour shots right on day one, they don't care, they just take your money and yer on yer own! Since I tan quite easily, I can jump right to the 30 minute session no problem. But I took a friend of mine with me a few years ago. Well, she did 30 and burned in a rather odd way, never seen anything like it before. Her back was all red, with these white stripes running up and down, exactly where the bulbs were! Weird because you would think it would have been the other way around, with red stripes where the bulbs were. She deplores tanning salons now, rightly so I guess LOL, and I still have not been able to live down taking her!

Ok, everyone, calm down.

Larry’s comments WERE crude, harsh and tactless. They certainly were offensive. But there was no malice in them. He has been told that he did the wrong thing and has apologized. I believe he did not intentionally do it to offend anyone. And he is NOT getting away with it or trying to avoid it - we do not ban, suspend or punish people here for making an honest mistake. Example? Durwyn was not banned for making a thoughtless remark about fat people here a few weeks ago – as the intent was not there to offend. You should all trust us in our ability to discern intent in people’s posts.

.Anyone can make mistakes – how else do we learn that we did the wrong thing? If they DON’T learn, then that’s a different story.

I’m sure that after this experience, Larry will be a LOT more careful about what he posts, and be a LOT more aware that as a moderator he should look at himself as a role model for others to follow, and act accordingly. Being a moderator can be both a blessing and a curse in this respect.

Now I think everyone's said their 2c on this, let's put it to rest, ok?

Boy, I'll second that remark! If I had a dime for every time I wanted to rip off my mod badge and leap on....oops, heheh... Ah well.

Discussing 'Nude beaches' is really not something I want on a Gaming Forum that Children visit. I'm closing this thread now, please do not discuss this type of thing here.

Thanks,
