For the Lord of the Rings song (The Fellowship of the Ring) when they are at the bridge of Khazad-dum? I really want to learn it!

Have you tried a library? Most of the time that stuff is sold under very strict copyright rules.

It's technically illegal to even photcopy sheet music, except a certain number for educational purposes. It's even technically illegal to listen to a piece of music, write a chart for it, and put the title and author of the song on it.

In preRecording days, charts were the only way a composer made money from their songs.

But I'm sure if you can justify stealing mp3s from Napster clones, you'll have no problem getting free sheet music.

Here's an idea. Why not get a recording of the music, and learn it by ear? You'll train your ear, and move into a different way of learning. No charts.

In 10 years of professional session studio singing in Australia, I was handed sheet music once. Every time, I was sung or played the song, and would pick it up by ear in a couple of listens.

In New York, I've been handed charts more, but they've only been for group singing.

So go for it. Work it out bit by bit. By ear. You may make mistakes and play it wrong. Who cares? If it's your INTERPRETATION of what you're hearing, and you're enjoying what you do, why not?
