OK. I'm going to make an attempt at this (and probably get it all wrong)...

dez is 10, yes? So 10 years ago?

Also, is the last sentence asking something more along the lines of 'what is the best time of year'?

Is Portuguese a combination of French and Spanish with a Latin base?

*can you tell I'm fascinated with languages?*

I'll go away now.

Since this thread is still on page one, I'd like to invoke my right as a newbie and ask some questions.

I signed up for gamespy last night but am lost regarding using it with BG II:TOB. Can I ask this in this forum or should I use another forum? I'd like to involve myself into the BG community and wonder what to do next.

I'm not a power gamer at all. I enjoy the multiplayer interaction and reaching a common goal.

Nothing in particular, Memnoch. Don't worry! I'm cool!

Excellent question, Hiram. No, you're not invisible. Its just that there are so many threads going on that your question wasn't noticed. Just be patient and someone knowledgeable will wander in and help you/me out. We can occupy ourselves/myself with some tag team thumbwrestling or maybe we could play a rousing game of "got your nose".

Much like a toddler trying to teach algebra to a professor, I will try to explain the multiplayer option of BG II. My Baldurs Gate II came with something called MPlayer. The TOB expansion came with Gamespy. Logically, I'm thinking that MPlayer became Gamespy. I think its a service for hosting when you play multiplayer on the internet. So, my question is "how do I use this service to hack and slash my way to glory online?"

Ahhh! I thought that was probably it.
But rather than play with a bunch of people you don't know, many of whom allegedly lurk around waiting to kill your newly created character for the XP and not least because they have nothing better to do, why not get together with some people here and play multi - which, in addition to making good friends with people, does not incur additional subscription charges?

Excellent suggestions, Epona. Thank you. I'm trying my best to be excessively intrusive so I may incorporate myself (read wedge) into the community here. I would be delighted to be a participant in some of the multiplayer activities around here. Alas and Alack, I am in the dark about what is going on regarding multiplayer.

Righty-ho!
Well, I've never done multi myself, but firstly you should announce your availability for a multi game - this way you can identify like-minded gamers.
The best place to do this would be either here in General Discussions, or even better on the TOB forum.

Ask Cloudbringer or Reeka for the exact way of doing it, since they are both experienced at setting up multiplayer games. There will be others who can help too, but I'm not sure who. Some general info though -
One player has to host the game, and the others dial up/connect direct to that game using the IP number of the host, rather than through gamespy.
You all have to have the same version of the game (ie. SOA only, SOA and TOB, all have the same patches etc.) and the correct game disks.
4 is a good number of players to make up a multi - that way you can have room to pick up NPCs for their specific quests, and it is hopefully not too difficult to organise a mutually suitable time to play.
Establish some basic ground-rules before you start - what alignments are allowed? Who is in charge? Who can spend money? What is a good party balance?

Have fun!
