LOL, missed a sentence, MagiK! I don't think of my pets as 'people' really. I may call them cute names etc, but I know that they are domestic pets and not humans... I just give them credit for being what they are! Some are far more intelligent than others, some just amuse and amaze me and some are the sweetest companions I've ever been lucky enough to have. Each is different and responds to different types of care and love.
I kid around and call them 'purrrrty little boy' or 'girl' but that's because of their gender not their species! LOL Nacht calls them 'fuzzball' alot but they like him anyway!

**Ducks and runs from Cloudy!!!***
I do not "hate" cats. There is just this tiny little detail that if I am exposed to one, I could die, thing, that does not make me want to be near them I am also against any kind of cruelty to animals (this does not count medical research). If you have taken a pet, it is your lifelong responsibility. I also do not allow animals in the wild to suffer, if I can somehow help the animal I do, otherwise I put it out of it's misery as quicklly and painlessly as possible. Harley mentioned getting surgery for her pet...in our family that $500 was better saved for people emergencies, we would have put the animal down. It is a harsh but real necessity some times, when making choices, I ALWAYS pick people over animals....well there are a couple on this forum I might make an exception for..... but in general... Edit: My joke about cats making great targets is just that [ 02-25-2003, 11:30 AM: Message edited by: MagiK ] |

Oh and Cloudy I do know that pets all have their own personaility traits. I have had many "outside" dogs in my life, from beagles to labs and each was different. some were smarter than others, some were dumb as a box of rocks....but I do see people treat their pets like they would their own children....... I just can't make that leap

Hey all. Just dropped back in for a sec. Much work to do but I needed my IWF fix. Not picking on you MagiK, but "medical research" is a corporate welfare program in most instances, and most folks just don't know it. Plus, I like the bunnies better than the companies. |

Normally I'd agree about the $600, but in this case I felt that the cat shouldn't die just because her last owner didn't take care of her (ie, after getting hit by the car the cat never should have been allowed to get pregnant because her hips were misaligned, which is why she needed the c-section).
Arion, sorry to hear you have a cold. Here, have some chicken soup (we jews call it Jewish penicillian). Feel better soon. Hey, if you do decide to change jobs you could always be a zoo keeper, lol

Excuse me MR. Lawyer man grrrr, Thought you were supposed to be precise in your wording in your profession but I do not believe I said anything about "Cosmetic" research... I did specificly state MEDICAL research harrrrumph! Hey all. Just dropped back in for a sec. Much work to do but I needed my IWF fix. Not picking on you MagiK, but "medical research" is a corporate welfare program in most instances, and most folks just don't know it. So you claim that there is no scientific benefit to useing lab rats instead of people to test new medicines and or procedures on? my comments had nothing to do whatsoever with tax or corporate benefits. Im talking pure research. Plus, I like the bunnies better than the companies.
Plus I like living better than premature termination because they couldnt test a new product before human use. Boy you sure can set me offf you big pile of Timber. |
