...or do other people also start a new game, go half way through and then start over again because they think that it would be more fun with another char? I had one game that was really great(chaotic good swashbuckler, lvl 18), but then I made a mistake which caused the game not to proceed, didnīt realize it at first, overwrote all savegames(quick-,auto- and standard save slot) and was stuck in the underdark, finally. Since then, whenever I start a new game, I go ītil chap 3 and then start over again. I canīt explain why. Is that normal or is this behaviour weird?

hmm, i often do this as well. i have about 50 unfinished save games that i gave up on during or before chapter 4. i just think it would be funner to do something else... although one of my changes didnt make sense... i changed from a female archer to a male archer!

I have a list of characters that I one day would wish to bring from BG1 to BG2. Of course, I never actually make it the whole way (if I do, there is usually something wrong), as I get bored. For the time being, I switched over to W&W, possibly making BG more thrilling when I return..

Yeah, I've done the exact same thing many times. You just get sick of how it's going and start over. Then you have to play through all the same scenes again. Who knows? Maybe we just have obsessive-compulsive disorder, I'd say it would be common amongst many fans of computer games. If we didn't have it, we'd probably be out enjoying the fresh air instead of sitting in front of a computer with our make-believe characters whom we use to 'pretend' get out and enjoy the fresh air. Oh God I think too much.

I do it all the time...literally.
I have yet to beat BG1. I got as far as -right before- Sarevok when I scrapped the game. And I haven't gotten past Chapter 2 in BG2 either. I don't know why, but I always start over. And it's not like I get sick of my character and try something different, I'm always some kind of spellcaster (mage, cleric, bard). But oh well... Recently, I've been determined to finish though. I started up a game in BG1, a mage that I'm going to turn into a wild mage for BG2-ToB, and I'm resolved to play the game -all- the way through. But now that I think about it, maybe I should play a bard that I kit to a blade in BG2... see? |
